This fall's Yoga/Creative Movement class will involve the practice and understanding of fun, kid-friendly yoga poses, as well as the practice of stillness and breathing. The class will involve elements of play including investigations of animal movements that aid in the practice of the yoga poses that are being learned. The children will have an opportunity to be leaders and followers and will be given plenty of space to expand their bodies and their imaginations. The class will offer opportunities for each child to feel strong and to practice kindness and community.

This is a drop off class. Parents/Grandparents/Nannies are welcome to stay in the lobby while the children participate.

Is the constant change in weather making you feel achy and stiff? Craving a way to relieve sore and tight muscles, while also building strength and stability? Join us and learn to roll with flow, and release with ease!
 
In this workshop we will learn how to use the foam roller to compliment your Pilates practice while opening up your muscles and connective tissue. This hands-on practice is designed to stretch, tone and increase flexibility. 
 
Theresa will bring you through a unique sequence that centers around functional fitness, with a prop that can be used anywhere! She will give you the necessary tools to effectively roll both inside and outside of the classroom.

Join us for an evening dedicated to raising funds for our Studio Partner, The School Mindfulness Project.  SMP's mission is to help students and teachers in Philadelphia's underserved schools achieve greater physical and emotional well-being through yoga and meditation. Spend an evening mindfully moving, enjoying refreshments and mingling with your fellow PPY+Thrive community members, all for a great cause!

Pilates without Pain: Benefits and Modifications for Injuries with Laura Baehr Sat, Oct 27, 2018 at 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

This new workshop aims to provide guidance on making the most out of Pilates while attending to an injury. An injury could be anything that affects the body and therefore its ability to move: a sprained ankle, low back pain, arthritis, short or long term illnesses, or even a concussion. We will discuss the benefits of participating in Pilates while injured and how each exercise in the mat series can be modified with fundamental principles, props or both! This workshop will end with an abbreviated mat class to leave you energized and with tools to feel confident in your next session and beyond.

Inversion Immersion with Colette Marie Sun, Nov 4, 2018 at 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm

Join Colette Marie for The Inversion Immersion Workshop, Sunday, November 4th from 1-3pm. This workshop is an introduction to practicing a host of inversions as well as offering a platform to enhance an already established inversion practice. 
 
YOGA TEACHERS: This is a Continuing Education Course! You are encouraged to attend :)
 
What's it all about?
This workshop will give you the boost of courage that we all need to try inversions for our first time! If it isn’t your first time playing with inversions, we’ll be working on some fun modifications and transitions to work on as well. We will work on preparing to come up into headstands, forearm-stands, handstands, pikes & planks!

Why you should take this workshop:

This will be a great opportunity to learn the mechanical aspects and anatomical aspects to preparing for, pressing into and sustaining inversions. In this workshop we will also “fiddle” with some of Colette’s favorite drills to build the core, essential for maintaining an inversion practice. This workshop is open to all levels of practice.

During this 2 hour workshop we will learn:

  • The body mechanics of inversions
  • Practice body alignment in preparation for inversions
  • How to modify and adapt inversions comfortably 
  • How to engage the right muscle groups
  • How to sustain inversions for extended periods of time
A little bit about Colette Marie:
Colette is long time teacher and practitioner of yoga, originally from Los Angeles, but has been teaching across the Northeast Coast and Southeast Coast, such as Stamford, Connecticut, New York City, Atlanta, and St. Pete, Florida. She is a Yoga Teacher Trainer, Personal Trainer, Continuing Education Provider through the Yoga Alliance and a published author of "Memoirs of an Unconventional Yogi" available on Amazon.com.
