How to Stay Grounded & Sane in Wintertime: Seasonal Health Tips for Winter Anxiety and Depression
withMonica Fauble at Philly Power Yoga
Sun, Dec 30, 2018 at 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Winter is the time of rest and replenishment, according to the wisdom of Chinese Medicine, but winter tends to be the season of burnout, seasonal depression, and restlessness in our culture.
During this workshop, we will explore seasonal health tips, self-care practices, and meditation practices to help you settle into the stillness and calm of winter so that you don’t feel as anxious or depleted.
We will also explore how to gracefully transition from the heaviness of winter into the activity of spring so that you can spring forth with all of your abundance intact as you prepare for another year of your life.
This event explores seasonal energetics and how to stay healthy throughout the shifting seasons of each year.

Strength & Sculpt Yoga
withColetteMarie at Philly Power Yoga
Sun, Jan 6, 2019 at 1:15 pm - 3:15 pm
Join Colette Marie for Strength & Sculpt, Sunday, January 6th from 1:15–3:15pm.
This workshop will focus on body weight exercises specific to perfecting a number of yoga asanas (poses), arm balances, and fluid transitions which require core & upper body strength, particularly in the chest, shoulders and upper back. The reason for this workshop is to help yoga students elevate their practice by incorporating strength training elements. This workshop is for ALL LEVELS of practice!
YOGA TEACHERS: This is a Continuing Education Course! You are encouraged to attend :)
What's it all about? This workshop is about building more strength and power. What we lack in most yoga practices are the aspects eccentric strength, (strength measured when a muscle is stretching with resistance as in lowering a weight from a contracted position), and concentric strength (muscle contracting or shortening with resistance. Example: curling part of a bicep.)
Why you should take this workshop:
Because as yogis we need more than static strength, ie holding of yoga poses for a period of time. Many of us need dynamic strength as well, which comes from lifting, pushing, & pulling heavy weight repetitiously, sequentially, thereby building bulk muscle fibers for added foundational strength & stability. We will use small hand weights, of course, our own body weight & combine the two for a solid strength & Sculpt Workout to enhance your yoga practice.
During this 2 hour workshop we will learn: • Incorporate the use of free weights into yoga poses • Repeat various upper body & lower body (BW- body weight) exercises. • Tailor a yoga practice with the use of free weights or kettle bells, while also referring to repetitious BW exercises • Build up core muscles through a series of abdominal and back strength exercises. • Learn to execute transitions seamlessly, referring to glute, quad and hip flexor strength and stability exercises.
Personal Note: "As a personal trainer and yogi, I have come to believe the two aspects of overall power & strength, blend well together! It is a pairing I can not separate as they work to support each other!" - Colette
